Her long suffering with cold sores (fever blisters)

It started at Back-to-School time.

Rosaleen told us another story, this one about her battle with cold sores, also known as fever blisters, ever since her school days.

Starting in high school she got terrible blisters on her lips.  She hated them.  She didn’t want to let anybody see her.  Back to School days were miserable.  They often seemed to trigger outbreaks.

She kept suffering cold sores as an adult and later as a mom of three kids.  “I tried everything for 20 years,” she said, “Every medicine, every cream, nothing worked.  Some things helped a little, but nothing completely stopped them from happening.  And nothing got rid of them very fast once they did happen.”

She knew Doug Cornell, the guy who started CopperZap LLC in 2012.  At first, CopperZaps had only been tested on colds.

In 2014 Rosaleen asked him if he thought it would work on cold sores.  He didn’t think so, but she decided to try it anyway.

A few days later she burst into his office shouting, “GUESS WHAT!”

She had felt a tingle in her lip the day before.  That was always how cold sores started.  She pressed the broad part of her CopperZap on the tingly spot for about 4 or 5 minutes.

An hour later the tingle seemed a little less.  She pressed the CopperZap on the same spot again.  The tingle soon seemed even less.

She used her CopperZap once more that day and again the next morning.  By then the tingle was completely gone.  The cold sore she was so sure was coming never came.

Doug had seen lab reports that copper does kill HSV-1 viruses when it directly touches them.  Those are the ones that cause cold sores and fever blisters.

But he also knew the viruses gather slightly under the surface of the skin.  He doubted copper touching the surface of the skin could reach viruses under the surface.

His own tests, however, had indicated that tiny amounts of copper get absorbed slightly into the skin.  Could enough copper be absorbed deep enough to reach those viruses?

He asked other cold sore sufferers to try it.  They had the same excited reaction as Rosaleen.  A common refrain was, “I’ve tried everything.  Nothing has ever worked before.”

Several people reported using copper after a blister had already appeared.  They said the blister stayed small and disappeared in a day or two.

One lady said she used copper when a blister had just started and was very small, about the size of a pencil eraser.  It stopped growing and no one seemed to notice it, she said.  It was gone in a couple of days, instead of the normal week or two.

After many such reports, Doug added to the Directions to use your CopperZap immediately when you first feel that warning tingle.  That is another good reason to always have it with you.
